Product Support FAQs
Why isn't my Roundup working as fast as I expected?
Did it rain within 4 hours of the application? The product could have been washed off the weeds.
Has it been at least 14-28 days since it was applied? While visible results may be seen after 24 hours, it can take 14-28 days to kill the weed completely. Check for yellowing or browning of leaves.
What is the target weed? If the weed is not listed in the label directions, the product may not control it.
What was the average temperature when the product was applied? Weeds may have been dormant if temperatures were cooler than 60°F or warmer than 90°F. Cold nights may delay the results.
Are the weeds drought-stressed? Drought-stressed plants cannot readily absorb the herbicide. The label instructs to water 8 hours before and 8 hours after application during dry conditions.
When was grass last mowed? Mowing 2 days before or after application reduces leaf surface and the plant's ability to absorb the herbicide.
When is the best time to apply Roundup?
Product applications are most effective in Spring or Fall when daytime temperatures range from 60-85°F (15.5-29.4°C). The product can be used whenever the weather is warm and weeds are actively growing. For optimal results, apply during warm, sunny weather. For stumps, the best time for application is late summer to fall, ensuring the stump is actively transporting nutrients. This can be done as long as temperatures remain above freezing and the ground is not expected to freeze within a few days. If reapplication is needed, you can reapply 30 days after the first application, with a maximum of 2 applications per season. If you are still not satisfied with the performance, contact us here.
How do I use a Roundup Sure Shot or Comfort Wand?
To get started using a Sure Shot® Wand or Comfort Wand® follow these simple steps:
- Unsnap the holder and remove the wand from the side of the bottle.
- Unwrap the hose completely and pull out the battery tab on the handle. The motor in the wand won't work if the protective battery tab is not removed before the first use.
- Insert the red plug into the knob on the cap until it clicks, and turn the knob to “ON”. Make sure the red plug is firmly attached to the cap. (If your bottle still has the spout cap instead of the twist cap, make sure the spout is sticking straight up.)
- Extend the wand until it locks into position.
- Slide the trigger lock on the handle to the “unlocked” position.
- Twist nozzle to the desired spray pattern. Make sure it isn’t set to “OFF.” If you’re using the Sure Shot® Wand, snap the protective shield over the wand nozzle.
- Spray the weeds that you want to kill. It’s that easy.
How to troubleshoot a Sures Shot or Comfort wand that isn't spraying
If your Sure Shot® Wand or Comfort Wand® won't spray, follow these simple troubleshooting steps to get it working.
If you do not hear the motor running:
- Confirm that the trigger lock is not engaged.
- Double-check to ensure the battery tab has been removed.
- If you still don't hear the motor running, try changing the batteries. Simply unscrew the compartment at the wand's base and replace the AA batteries.
If you can hear the motor running, but the wand is not spraying:
- Check the cap to make sure the knob is turned to the "ON" position"
- Confirm the nozzle setting is rotated to a spray pattern
- Re-prime the sprayer by squeezing the trigger for up to 30 seconds, until it begins to spray.
- If the sprayer tip is clogged, if necessary clean the outer sprayer surface only with a damp towel. Do not use soap or other cleaning agents and never submerge the wand handle.
