Before you get out there and start applying Roundup® Landscape Weed Preventer, check out these 3 simple tips.
To make sure you're getting the most effective results from Roundup® Landscape Weed Preventer, it's important that you use it properly. So before you get out there and start applying the product, check out these 3 simple tips. Have more questions? Chances are the answers can be found right on the label.
Since Roundup® Landscape Weed Preventer stops weeds before they become a problem, you'll want to apply it in spring, before any of those pesky weed seeds even think about growing. Also, be sure to apply it to your landscape beds before spreading any mulch.
Simply sprinkle Roundup® Landscape Weed Preventer around your plants -- just 2 tablespoons per 10 square feet is all you need. Be sure to sweep up any granules right away that get onto other surfaces (like concrete, stone, or vinyl) to prevent possible staining.
To activate the weed barrier, lightly water the product into the soil. Then, as a nice finishing touch, spread mulch around the plants in your landscape beds.
That's all there is to it! With these 3 simple steps, you're covered for up to 6 months of weed prevention. And remember, if you have other questions, you'll probably find the answers right on the product label.
All of your planting should be done before applying Roundup® Landscape Weed Preventer, for two reasons. First, the product creates a weed barrier in the soil, and adding plants after treatment will disturb that barrier, making it less effective. Second, this product will actually keep both weed and flower seeds from germinating. If you want to plant additional annual or perennial flower seeds in the treated area, you'll need to wait 6 months after applying.
Can I Apply Roundup® Landscape Weed Preventer When It's about to Rain?
It’s better to wait. True, you need to water Roundup® Landscape Weed Preventer to activate it, but wind and rain can blow or wash the active ingredient out of the treated area. You’ll get the best results if you apply the product on a calm day with no rain in the forecast for at least 24 hours.
